Bloody Marys and Fried Pickles at Bub City

I have a friend in town visiting and she just loves fried pickles.  I told her the best fried pickles I’ve ever had were here in Chicago at Bub City.  A great mid-day snack, we sat down to order.  Little did I know that Bub City also has a pretty competitive bloody mary bar and was convinced by my waiter to check it out.  I was beyond impressed.  You pay $10 per visit to the bloody mary bar, but I doubt you’ll need to go more than once or twice.  You can make a meal out of it if you want!  The first stop of the bloody mary bar is to choose your alcohol and rim salt – vodka, whiskey, tequila pick your poison! I of course went with my favorite, Tito’s.

From there you start making your bloody mary with either a house mix, simple tomato juice, and/or clamato juice.  They tell you to save some room, because you’ve got a lot of ingredients to go.  The bloody mary bar has cocktail shrimp, stuffed olives, different kinds of cheese, oysters, maple bacon, beef sticks, pickles, onions, peppers, celery, you name it! You can put whatever you want in it.  When you get to the end of the bar you can top your bloody with a loaded cheese, pickle and meat cracker that you’ll eat to start your drink off!  Lastly, you get Miller High Life beerbacks in mini bottles.  So much fun.  This was definitely my favorite bloody mary bar experience in Chicago so far.  It was also probably the most filling.

And the fried pickles, the whole reason we went in the first place.  Melt in your mouth amazing!
