Silent, yet Viral, Protest

Happy New Year everyone! I’ve been M.I.A for a bit vacationing in Cali and enjoying the holidays with my fam, but am hoping to be back with a vengeance in 2013.  Stay tuned for an update on my 30 before 30 list and what styles to add to your closet for the Spring!

The NOH8 Campaign struck a cord with me when it became popular a few years back through pictures upon pictures of beautiful faces, both famous and not, in a visual protest. The NOH8 Campaign promotes marriage, gender and human equality through education, advocacy, social media, and visual protest. Being a marketer myself now working for a nonprofit, I was giddy over the success of this viral social campaign, especially one with such a moving message.

I’ve been tracking the campaign for awhile now and waited patiently for a photo shoot to come to my area, when finally there was an event in Maryland in November. I attended the shoot with my sister, and must say I’m so happy with the results, not to mention my five seconds of a modeling career!
