How influential are you? I found this out when I measured my Klout score a few days back and I was below 20%. I knew being constantly engaged on social media was important, but this score challenged me, especially being a digital marketer. I needed to step my game up!
Klout helps measure how influential you are in the social sphere – how many people you influence and how much you influence them. Also, you can determine where (what channel) and on what topic (fashion, marketing, etc) you are most influential. I just started blogging, so of course, I have very few readers (thanks by the way 🙂 ), but have been an avid Facebook user for over 8+ years now. Naturally, I’m most influential on the FB, and some on Twitter. I don’t think Klout yet measures your PInterest and Instagram influence, but I hope it does soon. Klout has also taken advantage of giving perks for social sharing, something newly popular and also seen with the TV check-in app Viggle. The more influence you have over your network, the more perks that are unlocked for you including first access to new social applications, gift cards, and even ipods and e-readers!
For those of you who follow me on Twitter or the FB, you may have noticed an uptick in my engagement, or posts. I just checked my score today, and I’m at 41% – a networker. I’m going to keep at it!
According to this article by Mashable, Justin Bieber is the only person with a 100% influence score. Most of the celebrities, i.e. Britney Spears and Katy Perry, are in the 80 percent range.
